We’re hiring: R&D Assistant / R&D Technician

Join Inkron as a full-time R&D Assistant / R&D Technician to work hands-on with advanced optical materials for AR/VR and display waveguide manufacturing in Espoo, Finland. You will support the development, preparation, formulation, and testing of next-generation siloxane-based and hybrid materials, low-index coatings, and optical formulations for waveguide applications. Apply by November 22, 2026.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will carry out hands-on laboratory work based primarily on experimental plans prepared by R&D chemists, from synthesis and formulation to testing and preparation for production. You will join a skilled and experienced R&D team and gain exposure to a broad range of laboratory techniques and characterization equipment.

  • Prepare, formulate, and optimize optical resins, coatings, and adhesives.
  • Carry out laboratory testing, analysis, and characterization of raw materials and finished products.
  • Support experimental work, sample preparation, documentation, and laboratory equipment operation.
  • Collaborate with R&D and production teams on process improvements, material scale-up, and transfer to manufacturing.

  • Relevant vocational qualification or higher education degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemical Processing, or a related field.
  • Hands-on laboratory skills and an interest in practical chemistry and materials development. Practical skills and relevant experience are valued more than the level of formal education.
  • Previous experience with chemical synthesis, polymer preparation, formulation, or analytical instruments is an advantage, but not essential.
  • Careful, systematic, and safety-conscious approach to laboratory work.
  • Willingness to learn, problem-solving attitude, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills in English; Finnish is an advantage.
